Great for a complete beginner or experienced, this workshop will show you how to get the most out of your painting and to take full advantage of what paint offers you. Using black and white paint we will learn to use the paint boldly with control and consistency, developing greater confidence and understanding of painting techniques, process and media. In the morning we will work exclusively in black & white but in the afternoon you are welcome to bring some colour to it ,if you wish. Bust out and discover what you can achieve with paint, it’s really about losing the fear through learning how to make the paint work for you. You won't look back!

What to bring:

• Black & white acrylic paint (minimum size 75ml tube)

• Palette - something flat and non absorbent (something like an old plate will work)

One A2 card to paint onto will be included in course cost. Brushes, etc will be provided.

Extra A2 card can be purchased on the day for $5 each.

Age Suitability

While this is an adults' class, students high school and older are welcome enrol if the parent/guardian is confident they are mature enough to attend.

When you proceed to check out, you will be asked to make payment by internet banking. Please note that you will only be considered enrolled when payment has been received. We will only hold your  place for 48 hours so please ensure prompt payment. 


Refunds will only be issued if notification is given in writing to within 14 days of the class commencing. If you decide to withdraw  from a class within 14 days of it commencing, no refund will be given. 

Health and Safety

The Feilding and District Art Society and its tutors take all reasonable measures to protect the health and safety of everyone on our premises, but is not liable for any personal injuries or damage to personal property sustained while on our premises. A first aid kit isavailable at all times, though no medication will be administered to attendees without consent.

It is the responsibility of attendees to ensure Feilding Art Centre's Manager is notified of any health conditions which may impact participation in class.

Photography in Class

The Feilding and District Art Society and its tutors reserve the exclusive right to take photographs in the classroom. By enrolling in a class, you give permission for the Feilding and District Art Society to take and publish images of your artwork for promotional purposes, including on social media.

Teaching materials used in classes at the Feilding and District Art Society are subject to copyright. Photography of these materials by anyone other than the Feilding and District Art Society and its tutors is proibited.

General Class Policies

Attendees are expected to be punctual to all classes. The Feilding and District Art Society reserves the right to deny entry to latecomers, so as to minimuse disruption.

The Feilding and District Art Society and/or its tutors reserves the right to dismiss any attendee whose behaviour is considered by the tutor to be disruptive, dangerous, or damaging. Any dismissal resulting in a withdrawal from classes will not result in a refund. 


Complaints must be submitted in writing to All correspondence received will be reviewed by the Feilding and District's Art Centre Manager and escalated to the Committee if required. An in-person meeting may be requested by the Art Centre Manager in order to reach a resolution. Responses and resolutions to all complaints will be recorded in writing.
