Art Awards 2022 Artist Registration
The Feilding and District Art Society are seeking submissions for the 2022 Art Awards. This year, the awards feature new prize categories, increased prize funds, and the Art Awards Exhibition will feature on the Manawatu Art Trail. We welcome applications from artists across New Zealand.

Entry is $20 per entry, or $5 per entry for Youth exhibitors.* A maximum of four works may be entered per artist.

The deadline for submissions is 4pm October 7

Artworks may be in any media, but artists must be aged under 21

Important Dates for your Diary:

 Friday October 7th : Final date for the submission of entry forms, art works and fees

 Friday October 14th: Art Awards opening event and prizegiving (5pm)

 Saturday October 15th: Art Trail Manawatu begins

 Sunday October 16th: Final day of Art Trail Manawatu

 Wednesday November 16th: Final day of Art Awards Exhibition

 Friday November 25th:  Deadline for collection of works (no later than 4pm).

General Entry Terms and Conditions

 

  • The entry fee of $20.00 (incl. GST) applies for each artwork entered into categories 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. All funds must have cleared by the entry deadline to guarantee inclusion in the exhibition
  • A limit of four artworks may be submitted by any one artist, with no more than two entries per category
  • Artworks must be framed or mounted and ready for hanging with D-rings and cord. D-rings should be positioned no more one-third of the way down the frame. The Feilding and District Art Society reserves the right to disqualify any work not suitable for hanging, with no refund issued
  • Freestanding artworks must be suitable for display on a plinth (no floor-mounted work)
  • Any specific installation requirements should be included in the application form. The Feilding and District Art Society will adhere to these where possible but may be limited by wall or floor space
  • All artworks must be originals, made in the last 12 months and not previously exhibited in the Manawatu
  • All artworks must be for sale and accompanied with a tag detailing:
    • Artist Name
    • Artwork Title
    • Media
    • Price
    • Award category
  • Couriered entries must be delivered in re-useable packaging with return postage paid. Artworks must be delivered by the entry deadline to guarantee inclusion in the exhibition. If suitable return packaging has not been provided, it will be the artist’s responsibility to arrange an alternative method of collection
  • Whilst all reasonable care will be taken of exhibits, it is the responsibility of the artist to insure their work
  • The judges’ decision will be final – no correspondence will be entered into
    • Judges reserve the right to not award a prize in any given category
  • Artworks submitted for the Art Awards must remain at 104 Manchester Street, Feilding, for the duration of the exhibition
  • Artworks submitted for the Art Awards will be sold exclusively through the Feilding and District Art Society. During the exhibition, these artworks cannot be available for sale elsewhere
  • The Feilding and District Art Society collects commission on all artwork sales: 30% for members of the Feilding and District Art Society and 40% for non-members. Artwork pricing must include commission
  • Artwork sales will be communicated on the last day of the month in which the work was sold, and net sales proceeds debited into the artist’s nominated bank account on the 20th of the following month
  • All unsold works must be collected by 4pm on November 25th. The Feilding and District Art Society takes no responsibility for work collected after this date
  • The Feilding and District Art Society reserves the right to sell works on layby. Where this is the case, artists will receive payment for net sales once the artwork has been paid for in full
    • The Feilding and District Art Society reserves the right to use photographs of artwork for promotional purposes
  • Prize monies awarded at the opening ceremony will be debited into winners’ bank accounts on the next business day
  • Any artwork not compliant with the Terms and Conditions will be rejected with no refund issued.

 

Mazda Foundation Youth Award - Additional Terms and Conditions:

 

  • Entry to category 1, the Youth Award, is subject to an entry fee of $5 (incl. GST) for each artwork entered. All funds must have cleared by the entry deadline to guarantee inclusion in the exhibition
  • The winner of the Mazda Foundation Youth Award will be required to submit a one-page essay within one month of receiving their prize, to be used for promotional and accountability purposes. The essay must address how the recipient intends to use their funds, and the expected impact of the prize on their creative practice.
