Landforms in Watercolour Workshop with Tutor Charlotte Hird

Saturday 28 & Sunday 29 November 2026

Join Wellington watercolour artist Charlotte Hird for an inspiring two-day workshop exploring the beauty of landforms in watercolour.
Charlotte has over eight years' experience teaching watercolour techniques and is a member of Watercolour New Zealand and the Academy of Fine Arts. She is also the President of the Wellington Art Club, established in 1892. Known for her clear, supportive teaching style, Charlotte uses an overhead camera projected onto a large screen, allowing participants to follow each step of her painting process with ease.
This workshop focuses on creating spatial depth in landscapes, capturing the interplay of light and shadow across ridges, valleys, and rolling terrain. Through a series of demonstrations and practical exercises, participants will develop their understanding of washes, edges, colour mixing, and transparency while completing four landscape paintings over the two days.
Designed for intermediate watercolour painters, this workshop is ideal for artists looking to strengthen their existing skills and gain greater confidence in painting landscapes. It is not suitable for beginners.
