Maureen Jensen

The Garden World, Serenity and Harmony

This July, the Feilding Art Centre is proud to present Garden World – Serenity & Harmony, a captivating exhibition that invites you into the intimate world of Maureen Jensen’s macro photography. With a remarkable eye for detail and a deep appreciation for nature’s quiet wonders, Maureen captures what most of us miss: the elegant stillness nestled in flower petals, droplets, textures, and light.

Photographed from her unique vantage point as a wheelchair user, Maureen’s work offers more than beautiful images - it offers insight. Whether exploring her own garden or discovering new places with her camera in hand, she reveals nature’s subtle symmetries and organic poetry through every frame.

Many visitors will remember Maureen from our previous Seated Photographers exhibitions, where her work drew admiration for both its technical precision and emotional resonance. Beyond her photography, Maureen brings her creative spirit to the stage as a musician with the Palmerston North Folk Club, playing the Irish whistle with warmth and joy. Her dedication to community initiatives across Palmerston North and Feilding also speaks to her generous, collaborative nature.

More than an artist, Maureen is a passionate advocate for inclusive creative spaces. Her practice is a beacon for fellow wheelchair users, demonstrating how photography can become both expression and empowerment.
