This is an OPEN CALL Exhibition. Submissions encouraged from Youth aged 4-14 from Manawatu and our surrounding regions.


Manawatu Youth Art Exhibition

The Feilding and District Art Society invites our youth to submit their best works for Exhibition at the Feilding art Centre in November.

Parents, teachers, and mentors are warmly invited to submit one artwork per youth aged 4-14 years. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the creativity and imagination of our young artists and let their brilliance shine.

Exhibition Opening: 7th November
Each participating child will be honoured with a certificate at the opening event.

Key Dates:

  • Wednesday October 29th, 4pm: Final date for the submission of entry forms and delivery of artwork.

  • Friday 7th of November, 5pm: Youth Art Exhibition Opening and Awards

  • Monday December 1st, 10am - 4pm: All works can be collected from Feilding Art Centre – or arrangements made with gallery.

Key Criteria

  • Youth for this Exhibition includes Ages 4-14

  • Any adult can submit art on behalf of a child

  • Art is expected to represent the child's best work

  • Art is required to be displayed to gallery standards**

  • Art can be for sale - however the Art Centre will take a 30% commission.

Entry is free

Entrants need to be between the ages of 4 & 14 years

Limit of one artwork submitted by each artist, artwork should represent the artists ‘Best’.

Artworks must be submitted ready for display. Works should have D-rings and string positioned no more than one-third down the frame or canvas (please ask our team for advice)

Freestanding artworks must be suitable for display on a plinth (no floor-mounted work) and be accompanied by any supports or stands required for presentation.

Any specific installation requirements should be included in the application form. The Feilding and District Art Society will adhere to these where possible but may be limited by wall or floor space.

All artworks must have a clearly printed swing tag securely attached to the back, detailing:

  • Artist Name

  • Artwork Title

  • Media

  • Price

  • Entrants Age

Delivery and collection of Art works must be organised by the Artist and their representative.

Whilst the Society will take all reasonable care when handling artworks, the Feilding Art Centre is not responsible for any damage.

Artworks submitted for the Youth Awards must be delivered to 104 Manchester Street, Feilding, by the entry deadline and remain there for the duration of the exhibition.

Artworks submitted for the Youth Awards do not have to be for sale.

The Society reserves the right to photograph and reproduce artwork images and artist biographies for promotional purposes before, during, and after the exhibition. 

The Feilding and District Art Society collects commission on all artwork sales: 30% for members of the Feilding and District Art Society and 40% for non-members. Artwork pricing must include commission. All students entering the Youth Awards, will automatically be registered as members under our student membership and receive membership benefits.

Artwork sales will be communicated on the last day of the month in which the work was sold, and net sales proceeds debited into the artist’s nominated bank account by the 20th of the following month.

All taxation and GST liabilities are the responsibility of the artist (currently youth should pay tax if they earn over $2340 per year in NZ).

All unsold artworks must be collected at 10am on Monday the 1st of December. The Feilding and District Art Society takes no responsibility for damage or loss to artworks collected after this date.

The Feilding and District Art Society reserves the right to sell works on layby. Where this is the case, artists will receive payment for net sales once the artwork has been paid for in full.

The Feilding and District Art Society reserves the right to exclude from display any artworks which:

  • Cannot be accommodated due to inadequate wall or floor space;

  • Display themes or images which it deems offensive.

  • Any artwork not compliant with the Terms and Conditions will be rejected
